Terms of service

The agreement between you and hlpd, in plain English.

About these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and CommercialCat, based in the United Kingdom, for the use of hlpd: the admin, the API at api.hlpd.uk, the SDKs and the generator. By creating an account you accept them. Questions go to hello@hlpd.uk.

Your account

You must give accurate details, keep your password safe and be responsible for what happens under your account. hlpd is for businesses and developers; you must be 18 or over to sign up.

Plans and payment

Paid plans are billed monthly in advance in US dollars through Stripe. You can upgrade, downgrade or cancel from Billing in the admin; a cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you have paid for. We will give at least 30 days' notice of any price change.

Your content

You keep ownership of your app's code, help bundles, reports and everything your users send. You give us permission to store and process it only to run hlpd for you. You can export or delete it at any time.

Your users

SDK keys ship inside your app and are public. You are responsible for telling your users how their data is handled, including in your own privacy notice, and for having a lawful basis to send it to hlpd. We process that data under the privacy policy.

Generated help

Help topics, walkthrough scripts and narration are written with the help of language models and can contain mistakes. Review them before you publish a bundle. Chat answers are generated from your topics and are not checked by us.

Acceptable use

Do not use hlpd to break the law, send malware or spam, collect data you are not entitled to, or try to get around plan limits or other customers' security.

Availability

We aim to keep hlpd available and your data safe, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Help topics, search and walkthroughs keep working on the device when the API cannot be reached.

Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law. Otherwise, our total liability in any 12 months is limited to the fees you paid us in that period, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.

Ending

You can close your account at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, telling you why where we can. After closure we delete your data within [30] days.

Changes and law

We will give notice of material changes before they take effect. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
